Today’s post was going to be full of Lolita-ish inspiration, but… I’ll save that for next Monday, deal?
How this change in plans came to be:
Like I mentioned yesterday, all I wanted was a snow day so that I could stay home and read my new book all day. An hour after I said that, school was officially called off, and I got a call from my bestie Breigh, and I went over to her house and stayed the night. Right now, they are doing the Daniel-fast, where all you eat is natural foods, such as fruits and veggies. Very much a Vegan-ish diet. (so needless to say… I was starving the entire time. Ha!)
The basis of this fast is that in the time you would basically be spending thinking about just how hungry you are, you instead spend that time with God, praying and working through His Word.
Since they are doing this, I basically did the same… but I was able to eat :]
So today, when Breigh and I finally got around to getting ready, we cleaned up her room, put in a Hillsong United DVD (they are a worship group who tours the world. Amaaazing stuff), and broke out our Bibles and bible study books; I chose to read my book I mentioned yesterday.
It was the most amazing couple of hours ever. I feel so connected to God right now. I’m on one of those highs you get after coming home from church camp. Haha!
I just feel like I know so much more about myself, and my relationship with Christ right now.
At one point in the book, it said that if we are not happy with what we have, and what situations we are in, we will never truly be connected to God. How true is this statement? It is astounding how all of this made complete sense to me. I am going to probably read all through the night tonight just so I will finish it.
Basically, what this book is about is the connections between sex & God (the author, Rob Bell, says you can’t have one without the other). It’s become more than about “just” sex. It’s becoming a study on our sexuality as humans. The drive, the need, etc. It’s about the concept of sex, as a connection, not only with a significant other, but with people, in general.
One of the points made was that in the quest to remain pure, we should direct all of our sexual energy into bettering ourselves, and the world around us.
I have decided to live by this.
In 7th grade, I did the whole True Love Waits thing, and I have continued to keep that promise to God (that I will remain abstinent until marriage); I think reading this book has helped me. I see now that instead of “dreaming” about my future marriage, and the life I will have, I should direct all of that energy, and thought, into what I can do to help people NOW.
I love God a lot :]
And even if that’s not the lifestyle you are into, that’s totally cool.
I’m not forcing anything on anyone, promise :]
I just wanted to share what’s been going on in my head today.
